In this sample web audit that I did this week for a potential client, I made sure that this was the first time I’d seen their site. I wanted to review it with fresh eyes and give them honest feedback on what a first time viewer would see and, most importantly, what that viewer is thinking and looking for. Sometimes this is difficult to do in your own business because you already know everything about the business and your services, so your brain fills in the gaps.
We do a ton of website audits (for free) for potential clients as well as referral partners and business partners. I LOVE doing them because
- I’m like a designer that walks into a room and can immediately tell you what is out of place and see where we can transform your space and
A lot of times I can point out issues that can easily be fixed on your site. - Not every website I see needs a redesign. It can be just some tweaks here and there. Whew, aren’t you relieved?
Many times small businesses will build a website and set it, and forget it only to look at it years down the line (when their leads dry up or the phone stops ringing) and wonder how technology and the modern world passed them by and why are they loosing out to their competitors.
Our businesses have 8 seconds to capture a viewer’s attention and keep them on their site to learn more and eventually take action to become a prospect. On mobile, it is 4 seconds. That’s a lot of heavy lifting for your website.
I look at things like user experience, load speed, mobile friendly testing, content, conversion points, opt-ins, layout, use of video and photography, broken links and other technical issues. It’s a checkup and should be done at least quarterly for tech items and yearly for design, speed and overall user experience.
If you’d like me to take a peek at your website and give you honest feedback, just email me directly at pia@fingerprintmarketing.com. No charge and no sales pitch and no gimmicks. I’m a total Geek and I do this for fun and if I can help and you decide to refer me along the way, all the better.
